Holistic Beauty

I firmly believe that true beauty radiates from within. To glow on the outside, we must first nurture what’s inside. Prioritizing 8-9 hours of restful sleep, taking essential supplements, being mindful of what we eat, and embracing a non-toxic lifestyle are the keys to both looking and feeling our best. When we focus on our inner health, it naturally reflects in our outer appearance.

Disclaimer: I’m not a healthcare professional, but these are practices that have personally worked for me. We’re all different, so what works for one may not work for another.

Why Should I Aim to Get 8-9 Hours of Sleep?

Many sources recommend 8 hours of sleep for optimal health, but this guideline is based primarily on male sleep patterns. Women often need more rest to feel fully recharged. I experimented with different sleep durations—7, 8, 9, and 10 hours—and found that 9 hours is my sweet spot. Since starting a full-time job that runs from 8 to 4, I’ve adjusted my schedule to wake up at 5:45 a.m. for exercise and some quiet time before my day begins. To ensure I get enough rest, I aim to be in bed by around 9 p.m. I encourage you to experiment with your own sleep patterns and discover what works best for you—we all have unique needs! Since consistently getting 9 hours of sleep, I’ve noticed that I’m more attentive and energized throughout the day. I also found that during high school and most of college, when I would go to bed and wake up late, I would feel groggy throughout the day, and would almost always have an energy crash around 2 PM. Waking up early and going to bed early aligns with our natural body rhythms, so I highly recommend giving it a try.

Why Should I Take Supplements, and Which Ones?

Balanced nutrition is essential to overall health, but sometimes diet alone isn’t enough to meet all our body’s needs—especially when it comes to maintaining healthy skin, hair, and nails. Hormonal fluctuations, stress, and lifestyle factors can impact our ability to absorb vital nutrients, so supplements can be a great way to fill in the gaps. When chosen wisely, they help us achieve glowing skin, shiny hair, and strong nails from the inside out. After years of experimenting, I’ve found the perfect combination of supplements that work for me: collagen, biotin, vitamins E and D, zinc, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, magnesium, iron, copper, and selenium. Supplements have been an important part of my routine since I was just 13 years old! I’ve noticed that when I miss just a few days of my supplement routine, my skin starts to look dull, so I’m diligent about taking them daily and always ensuring I have them with me even when traveling, busy, etc.

What Should I Do to De-stress at Home?

Self-care is essential for de-stressing because it allows us to recharge mentally and physically, reducing anxiety and improving overall well-being. Social media can make it seem like we need a million products for the perfect self-care day, but that’s not true. You can create a relaxing, affordable de-stress routine right at home. I like to set aside one or two days a week for self-care—Sundays to reset for the week and Thursdays to prep for the weekend. Focus on simple, refreshing activities that make you feel rejuvenated.

One of my favorite rituals is an “everything shower.” I start by oiling my hair and dry brushing my skin to boost circulation. Then, I wax, wash my hair thoroughly, and massage my skin with homemade cocoa butter. Afterward, I slip into my coziest pajamas and blow-dry my hair. This process takes a couple of hours, but it’s worth every minute. It helps me release all the stress of the week and feel completely renewed.

Why Is Lymphatic Drainage Important, and How Can I Practice It?

Lymphatic drainage is crucial for maintaining overall health and beauty because it helps eliminate toxins, reduce swelling, and support immune function. The lymphatic system plays a key role in filtering out waste products and excess fluids from the body, promoting clear skin and reducing puffiness. My favorite ways to practice lymphatic drainage include ice rolling, facial massages (which can easily be done with your hands), dry brushing, and, of course, staying hydrated.

How Can Journaling and Meditation Help Me Feel Beautiful?

While we’ve touched on many physical aspects of beauty, journaling and meditation can enhance our inner beauty by cultivating a positive self-image. Journaling, even for a few minutes each day, helps me reflect and express gratitude, fostering a healthier sense of self. Meditation, meanwhile, is essential for reducing stress. I try to set aside 15 minutes in the morning before my shower and 15 minutes at night before bed to sit in a lotus pose and simply breathe. Meditation lowers cortisol levels, which can lead to breakouts, dull skin, and premature aging. A calm mind promotes clearer skin and a natural glow.

Incorporating these holistic beauty secrets into your routine is about more than just enhancing your outer appearance—it’s about nurturing your entire well-being. True beauty comes from within, and by taking the time to care for ourselves—through restful sleep, nourishing supplements, mindful self-care rituals, and practices like meditation—we create a balance between inner wellness and outer beauty. Remember, everyone’s journey is unique, so it’s important to experiment and find what works best for you. Since I’ve shared my favorite practices, I’d love to hear yours! Feel free to comment with any holistic beauty recommendations. By prioritizing your health and happiness, your natural beauty will shine through effortlessly.

Meditation helps me with reevaluating my day hence making my mind clearer, as if a line directs me to where I need to go.
