Save or Splurge; Dyson Airwrap

With the holiday season and Black Friday just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to make smart investments in your beauty routine. One of my all-time favorite tools is the Dyson Airwrap, and if you've been debating whether it’s worth the splurge, you’re in the right place. In this post, I’ll break down everything you need to know about this game-changing styling tool and why it might just be the best beauty investment you make this season!

What makes the Airwrap special?

The Dyson Airwrap stands out because it’s not just a styling tool — it’s a complete hair care system. It uses something called the Coanda effect, where air wraps around your hair to style it without extreme heat. This is a game-changer for anyone who wants beautiful results without sacrificing hair health. It’s also a time-saver if you usually use multiple tools to achieve different looks — the Airwrap combines it all into one sleek device. I personally have extremely long hair that's medium thick. The Airwrap helps me give myself a salon-level blowout in just 40 minutes. In my opinion, the device is extremely convenient. If I blowout my hair on hair wash day, I do 5-10 minute touch ups everyday leading up to my next hair wash day. I have heard some of my friends say their hair didn't last a very long time with the Airwrap, but I personally have not had that issue. I love using the Colorwow Dream Coat before blowing out my hair, which helps reduce frizz and make your styling last a longer time.

Is the price tag justifiable?

At around $600, the Dyson Airwrap is definitely an investment. However, when you consider how much you might spend on individual styling tools like blow dryers, straighteners, and curling irons (not to mention the salon visits you might skip), the cost starts to make sense. Plus, its ability to protect your hair from heat damage means you’ll likely spend less on hair treatments and products to repair damage over time. I have noticed that since using the Airwrap, my hair has little to no damage. I am also the type of person who likes to go get my hair blown out at the salon for special events, so this tool has truly saved me so much money as I've learned to do dare I say a better job at home. Dyson also has one of the best customer service teams on the market right now and they are extremely helpful.

What are the downsides of the Dyson Airwrap?

The biggest downside I would say, is that you can't travel internationally with the tool. When I went on vacation abroad this summer, I had to leave my Airwrap at home. Even with plug adapters, voltage differences are the key issue. Dyson specifically designs the Airwrap to meet local standards, which is why it can’t be easily used in another region without risk. Unfortunately, using a voltage converter might not always work well for heat-based appliances, leading to poor performance or even damage to the tool. In my honest opinion, this is the only con I can think of with the Airwrap! Also, I have heard that the curls may not last on everyone's specific hair texture. I have never had this issue myself, but we are all different so it's important to find what works for you! Dyson products have a 2 year warranty and 30 day return policy, so you can definitely experiment with the tool as well to ensure it works for your hair type/texture.
